Dental ethics applies moral principles and virtues to the practice of dentistry. The American Dental Association has long recognized that continued public trust in the dental profession is based on the commitment of individual dentists to high ethical standards of conduct.

Training’s Done provides your on-site Ethics training for your Oklahoma Board of Dentistry CE requirements. This classroom style training is designed to fulfill your Ethics requirement of the Oklahoma Dental Board mandating every dentist and hygienist to complete an Ethics course every reporting period. The current reporting period began July 1, 2016 and ends June 30, 2019. All hours must be reported no later than June 30, 2019.

What are ethics?
Ethics affect every decision made in a dental office. Ethics affect relationships with patients, the general public, office staff, and other professionals. As a dentist, you make numerous decisions every day. Some decisions are easy, but others are not so straightforward. Ethics are ingrained in these decisions and with virtually every activity of your dental office. When ethics are ignored, you risk making less than ethical decisions. Unethical conduct compromises your service to your patients. Consequently, ethics are critical.

Dentists should familiarize themselves with the prevailing laws, regulations, and standards that affect their day-to-day decisions.

About our Ethics course
This course is specific to dental situations in the dental office. Dentistry is granted certain entitlements when providing care to patients, and in return the dental staff should adhere to the highest ethical standards of conduct. This course is a guideline for the ethics code established and self-regulated by your practice. Real examples of common ethical problems in dentistry will be presented and discussed. We will review the health care principles used in dentistry to help identify, clarify and support choices when faced with ethical decision making.
